Gestalt on Grid 9/29
Gestalt on Grid
Figure & Ground:
The first image shows Figure & Ground because starting from the bottom right corner, the letters are in the font size 12, the maximum number of size according to the assignment. The middle boxes are font size 11 and the last three in the left top corner is in the font size of 10. I believe it would've been easier to show this Gestalt principle if I could use bold or italic as it could demonstrate distance between all different sizes.
Similarity:
The second image shows Similarity because the even gaps between some of the textboxes are exactly the same and the same goes for the odd-shaped gaps between are similar as well. The format they're in is that each of the text boxes are alternating side alignments. Overall, I feel that something is missing to fully show similarity between all the text boxes however, I really wanted to only use alignment to show this Gestalt principle.
Proximity:
This shows Proximity because the center textboxes are being surrounded by the gapped textboxes and therefore showing it's being grouped by other shapes while being in the same area. This Gestalt principle is hard to show because since it's a grid, it's hard to scatter the text into different places to show that they're in the same area despite being different shapes.
Closure:
This shows Closure because there's a gap in the circle-like shape I attempted to create with only text. I used the full alignment to fully fill the boxes and make it even all around, leaving the bottom right empty to show that it's almost closed but still having the gap. This was pretty hard to interpret because I did not fully know how to show that the text is continuous and "semi-closed" because it was on a grid.
Continuity:
This shows Continuity because the text boxes are constant on the top and bottom and the two text boxes show a connection between the top and the bottom. Although I wanted to create a line-like shape between the textboxes to actually visualize a wire connecting it all but I did not know how to make it work out and tried using alignment but failed so therefore, I only went with Plan A rather than Plan B.

The proximity design looks very appealing and creative. The text demonstrates proximity because there is gapes between the text.
ReplyDeleteThe Designs are amazing and do capture each subject of it;the proximity one is probably my favorite of them all because the pattern made with the negative space looks interesting
ReplyDeleteOne of the best ones here. The similarity one is very nice with small but nice details in the middle. Im feeling a strong 8 to a light 9
ReplyDeleteYour proximity and figure ground looks very detailed and creative. I like how to created and represent creativity and details towards it.
